I think this works the same for writing — or, probably most things, but the one I know most about is writing. There’s no experience, no knowledge, that can’t help you later. You can’t write in a box — you have to get out and learn about love, pain, or even random things like pancakes and robot races (schedule of my day) — and then retire to your box with something to write about.
